What services does a Registered Migration Agent (RMA) provide?

Helping clients apply for their visa is one of the core services RMAs provide. They can do lots more than that. Some may even go beyond clients' expectations.

  • Provide information and guidance

  • Advice on possible visa pathways

  • Preliminary assessment for visa applications

  • Assistance with visa applications

  • Communicate with the Department of Home Affairs (DHA)

  • Preparation for occupation assessments

  • Reminder of visa conditions

  • Assistance with sponsorship applications and nominations for employers

  • Preparation of submissions to the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART)

  • Assistance on insurance policy that is required for visa (no advice given)

Why RMAs?

In Australia, only a specific group of individuals can provide immigration assistance, and a RMA is one of the authorised persons within this group. A person may face imprisonment for 10 years if they are not RMAs and charge a fee for an immigration assistance service, except for legal practitioners.

RMAs are regulated by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) and its authority, the Office of Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA). A person must have completed the required courses, held an approved degree, and met the strict criteria to be eligible to apply for registration and engage in migration services.  DHA monitors and reviews registrations annually to ensure that RMAs comply with the Code of Conduct, regulations, and laws.

By doing so, clients benefit from being involved in the immigration services provided by the RMAs.
